Use of Windows-Type Controls The ability to define controls such as list boxes, drop down lists (comboboxes) and multi-line texts allow the devloper to greatly extend the presentational methods currently available. Text controls (single and multi-line) can be edited (in situ). It also provides a means of preparing your users for full Windows environments. Multi-Layered Forms / Applications The Screen Handler enables forms and applications to be layered over one another, with automatic re-displaying of the original form / application when the overlay is terminated. For instance, consider an order entry application. During the creation of a new order, it is required to create a new customer. The customer maintenance application could be linked via a menu option and invoked whilst in the middle of order creation. When complete, the ordering application is automatically re-instated and order entry continues where it left off. Compatability with Lastic GUI Forms created for the Screen Handler will run within Lastic GUI. Thus, having developed applications with the Screen Handler,a full Windows environment can be implemented subsequently without changing the applications. NB: Within the Screen Handler environment, graphics controls (pictures and glyphs on bitmaps) are left blank and the work bench control is not available. There are also certain functions available within Lastic GUI which cannot be used within the Screen Handler environment.
